Charity Events and Initiatives
The CSNN Vancouver branch is proud to be a part of InspireHealth’s Kayak For A Cure Fundraising Event, since 2011
The summer of 2013 marked the 3rd consecutive year that CSNN Vancouver participated in this amazing paddling event organized by InspireHealth to support efforts to continue offering integrative cancer care throughout British Columbia.
On Sunday, August 25, 2013, the committed CSNN Vancouver team launched their kayaks from Jericho Beach in Vancouver to journey across English Bay to 3rd Beach and back again followed by a fabulous beach party with all of the participants. Our team was responsible for raising over $3,300 of the approximate $20,000 that was raised!
One hundred percent of the funds raised go to InspireHealth, a world leader in cancer care programs that support patients’ health using an integrated approach that combines nutrition, exercise, emotional and spiritual support with standard cancer treatments. Operating in Vancouver since 1997, InspireHealth’s team of physicians and health care professionals has provided integrated care to over 6,000 cancer patients. They are also expanding with five new centres in Victoria, Kelowna, Abbotsford, Prince George, and online.
Thank you to Team CSNN for being a part of such an important event and to their friends and families who donated so generously.
We Built a Well in Africa with the Ryan’s Well Foundation
CSNN is proud to announce its support of the Ryan’s Well Foundation. The Ryan’s Well Foundation began in 2001 with a six- year-old boy, Ryan, who, after learning in grade one that many children around the world do not have access to the basic necessity of clean water, decided to do something about it. Since then, Ryan has dedicated himself to promoting awareness of this issue and raising funds to build wells in third-world countries. To date, Ryan’s Well has helped build over 878 water projects and 1120 latrines bringing safe water and improved sanitation to over 823,238 people.
CSNN’s goal was to provide one African community with a fully operational well. Our branches undertook fundraising activities to raise contributions for the well, which were fully matched by CSNN Head Office.
We are proud to announce that we were able to reach our fundraising goal as of November 2010, helping provide safe, clean drinking water to a community in northern Uganda. We would like to thank everyone for their generous donations and to thank Linda Wagar for all of her hard work on this project.

The audience enjoyed a screening of “Rubber Side Down: From the Rock to the Rockies”, the documentary film about two cyclists who biked across Canada raising awareness of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
