How often will I attend school?

If you decide to start in September, you will attend theory classes Mon & Wed mornings from 9:00am – 1:00pm.  Occasionally classes will end early between 12:00 and 1:00pm.

If you decide to start in March, you will attend theory classes Tue & Thurs mornings from 9:00am – 1:00pm.  Occasionally classes will end early between 12:00 and 1:00pm.

If you are in the NNP program (Natural Nutrition Diploma Program) you also must get 50 hours of practicals. Those are *generally* held Monday through Thursday on the offsetting mornings from your theory.  However, practical hours can vary slightly.

  • Example:  Theory classes are Mon & Wed.  Therefore, practical classes will be either Tue or Thur.

You will receive your full schedule program as soon as you are registered so that you can plan your year!

How long is a class?

Most classes are between 3-4 hours long.  They mostly start in the morning (either 9am or 10am).

Can I work while going to school?

Yes, absolutely!  However, for best practices and to ensure your best success in the program, we suggest you are working part time.

If you are in the Enhanced Clinical Studies program, keep in mind you are in school every day Mon-Thur, so your daytime working hours will be very limited.

What is a practical?

A practical is a class that enhances the learning experience of the student.  Practicals are learning moments outside of the theory classes offered.  They can be a concentrated topic, such as “liver health” or “thyroid health”, or they can be a class that helps you build community connections.  They can also be farm tours or an education moment on making natural health products.

Some practicals are mandatory.

The Natural Nutrition Diploma Program needs 50 hours of practicals.

The Enhanced Clinical Studies Program needs 250 hours of practicals.

Are payment plans or funding available?

We try to make the enrollment experience as simple as possible. If you require financial aid, we have a 3 step financial assistance process:

  1. First, you will meet with a financial advisor who will discuss funding options with you.
  2. The financial advisor will then work with you to find and apply for grants that apply to you.
  3. If you need additional financial aid, we will continue working with you to explore student aid, personal lines of credit, internal financing, or loans so you can achieve your career goals.  CSNN Edmonton is a designated school with AB Advanced Education.

I cannot commit to a year of schooling. Is there something else I can do?

Yes!  We have several different options.

Nutrition Basics – try out a small class, where you can learn a lot about nutrition in your house!  To get access, request a brochure.

Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Certificate – this program is build for the average user who just needs to know a bit more.  20 hours of solid information LIVE with one of our very dynamic instructor. All classes are done on Zoom.

Introduction to Fundamentals Certificate – This course is the first 36 hours of our diploma program. We teach you some amazing fundamentals with the idea that you can easily continue towards your diploma program at a later date.  Many students take this option if they want to try out school before committing.

Does CSNN provide job-search assistance?

Since our Graduates’ designations are the most recognized in the holistic nutrition industry, companies seek out CSNN Graduates to fill their employment opportunities. Job ads are posted in the classroom, on the graduate section of the website, and on Distance Education’s online chat group. CSNN graduates also qualify to join the Canadian Association of Holistic Nutrition Professionals (CAHN-Pro) and the Canadian Association of Natural Nutritional Practitioners (CANNP).

CSNN Edmonton has a job search program, whereby students and grads are notified of opportunities in their area.

What type of career will I have when I am done?

The holistic nutrition industry has a vast variety of jobs, but here are some of our most popular ones.

  1. Consult with clients.  Many of our grads do 1-on-1 consulting to help clients discover their own food journey for all the reasons clients want to eat better.
  2. Do a program.  Many clients put together a program which they sell to a group of client.
  3. Food blogging. Yes, writing is a career!  Whether it is a book or writing blogs, being able to write about food and nutrition is a niche career!
  4. The Foodie!  Meal plans, making food, farmer’s markets and so much more!  Many grads are big foodies, chosen to make food in many different forms.
  5. Get a job.  Some of our grads choose to work regular hours in health food stores, wellness locations, weight loss clinics, or other institutions that offer counselling on food or supplements.
