Jess Hart

Biography

Jess Hart is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist™ professional with a BA in International Studies from Trinity Western University. She is also a Culinary Nutrition Expert through the Academy of Culinary Nutrition.  She currently offers one-on-one nutrition consultations, hosts and cooks plant-based meals for wellness retreats, and offers cooking classes for her clients.

Food, and what to eat and whether to eat it, has ruled most of her life. Jess spent years seeing food as something to eschew to make herself physically smaller, mentally punishing herself when that didn’t work as well as she hoped. After having daughters, however, she realized that she wanted them to be raised in a world that cherishes their health over their weight. And she knew that she would have to be the one to teach them what being healthy really looks like. Jess started thinking about health and what eating healthy actually is. She read books, watched documentaries, and listened to podcasts. However, she found so much conflicting advice as she began devouring this information:  Paleo or Vegan, Raw or Cooked, Gluten or Gluten-Free? Looking for more concrete answers, Jess enrolled in the Natural Nutrition program at the Canadian School for Natural Nutrition, earning the R.H.N. designation. Through that program, she now understands that we are all unique, with individual nutritional needs based on our genetic make-up, where we are in our lives, and even our personal preferences.

Her own journey has brought her to a place where she is continually learning which foods support her health, and adjusting this as her physical, emotional, and mental needs fluctuate with life. When Jess is her healthiest self, she is creative, energetic, boundless, determined, and fun. She can play soccer with her daughters, laugh with her friends, and contribute to her community. Jess wants the same health for her sweet girls.  And she also wants that for you.

Jess lives in Burns Lake, BC with her husband and two daughters.

Why CSNN?

I chose CSNN because I have a young family and a busy career and needed an online option. Plus, the course list really interested me! I also knew that I would be starting the program while I was three months pregnant, so I loved that I could set my pace. CSNN proved to be an incredible learning experience that has been invaluable in finding the career I always dreamed of. Even more than that, it is an amazing community full of those who share my passion for nutrition and who hold themselves to the highest standards of professionalism and excellence.
