Joanna Brown, C.H.N.C, BCR, RP, NWLC, Plant-Based Chef, CBT Therapy Practitioner, Meditation Teacher, & Professional Life Coach. Joanna also received the Danielle Perrault Trailblazer Award 2019 for her enthusiasm, involvement, and commitment to the Holistic Nutrition Industry.
Joanna Brown, C.H.N.C, found her passion for working in the community in the field of health and wellness when she graduated from the University of Calgary with her Bachelor of Community Rehabilitation & Health Studies Degree. Working as a specialist in the area of mental health and dual diagnosis, she saw a common trend between poor diet, poverty, and lack of nutrition education. Her studies in the field of mental health led her to look closer at human nutrition and its close link to supporting the mind and body as a whole. This led Joanna to the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, where she earned her diploma in Natural Nutrition in 2016, granting her the C.H.N. designation, with accompanying professional title, Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant™. She then continued her education, earning recognition as a Natural Nutrition Clinical Practitioner, Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist, Natural Weight-Loss Coach, Rehabilitation Practitioner, Mediation Teacher, and Raw Food Chef.
In 2016, Joanna opened her nutritional consulting business, Rejoice Nutrition & Wellness Inc., located in Sherwood Park, Alberta. She is also the Executive Director of a Holistic Community Based Organization supporting people with dual diagnosis. As her practice grew, she began running online 8-week nutrition programs in 2017 that incorporate holistic nutrition, self-care, and positive lifestyle as a way to bring balance to the body to people around the globe.
Joanna is passionate about addressing issues of food insecurity and, since graduating from CSNN in 2016, has become a board member of Alberta Food Matters, which works with provincial and federal governments and the health sector at addressing the need for whole foods as it relates to rising health issues. Joanna also volunteers with the Food4Good program, which educates community members on nutrition and how to cook simple and affordable meals for the family. In coordination with The Edmonton Food Bank, Joanna created the “Healthful Hamper Food Drive” that collected money and healthy food for families in need in both 2016 and 2017. In 2018, Joanna launched a company called Wishbone Wellness that supplies local, organic bone broth products to health food stores, farmers markets, and online across Alberta. Joanna is currently working on her first cookbook that will be released in 2019.
CSNN provided me the education, confidence, and support network needed to open my own practice, Rejoice Nutrition & Wellness. Being a part of the alumni creates a space for continued learning and to grow so that you are able to stay connected to learning current research and trends in the field of holistic nutrition. My education with CSNN has been life changing for me and I cannot express how grateful I am for this experience to work with others everyday on their journey to better health and wellness.
